Business
1. Waste Audits
(October 2008)We worked with a number of businesses to
see if we could reduce their waste costs, at this crucial economic
time. In partnership with OTCN and the County Council,
we offered free waste audits leading to an action plan that could
reduce waste costs by up to 60%. This was relevant to all
businesses, whatever sector and across a range of sizes - proven by
our working relationship with the Old Bank Hotel in the High Street
and Lizzie James in Little Clarendon.

2. Battery Recycling (March -
September 2008)
We worked with six businesses in the City on a scheme to promote
the recycling of batteries. We provided collection boxes, for
each business, into which customers returned used batteries.
Once the box was full we collected it and provided the business with
a replacement.
This initiative encouraged customers to return regularly to the
shops involved in the scheme. It also assisted these
businesses to prepare for forthcoming new legislation that will
force the UK to start recycling such products.
The scheme has been so successful that we persuaded the County
Council to continue to fund the initiative. During the
initiative we recycled over 125kg of batteries (tbc), saving them
from landfill.

3. OxClean (March 2008)
We worked with the Oxford Civic Society and Gino's Restaurant to
improve the planters close to the old School House in Gloucester
Green.
We planted a mixture of hardy, urban, drought tolerant plants in
each planter (previously each acted as a receptacle for dog-ends).
The cherry trees were protected. Gino's Italian restaurant,
adjacent to the planters, agreed to water the planters as required.
