Operational
Pubwatch Banning Scheme (November 2008)OX1 introduced a
new formal banning scheme that covers the evening-based businesses such as
the pubs and clubs. Fully paid-up members of Pubwatch will become part
of a formal banning scheme whereby significant offenders will receive a
formal and inclusive ban from all of these premises in the City.
This type of scheme has proved very successful in other areas of
the country and will deter the minority here who misbehave.

2. Cleansing (January 2008)
OX1 worked with Intex Cleaning to start to force the debate on the
cleanliness of the City centre. We deep-cleaned pavements and
removed the chewing gum from key locations in January. We have
a City with a global brand. It is deserving of a world class
environment that starts to complement the manicured lawns and spaces
of the Oxford Colleges.
Cleaning took place between 20th January 2008 and 24th January
2008 in George Street and Queen Street.
3. Pubwatch (November 2007)
OX1 is seeking to support licensees in promoting the responsible
drinking agenda.
We have worked in partnership with paid-up members of Pubwatch to
purchase ultra-violet key fobs for door supervisors in these venues.
The key fobs will allow security staff to quickly and unambiguously
identify genuine and fake IDs and also counterfeit banknotes.
This initiative has proved popular with a number of venues and
has greatly reduced the opportunities for under-age drinking in
Oxford City centre. Its success has been noticed by national
press and organisations who have sought to replicate this initiative
in other towns and cities.
Other similar projects have been put together with Oxford Nightsafe
with a view to making evening entertainment safer and more
welcoming.
