LATEST: Following the acclaimed OTCN 'Promoting Enterprise Education' report, a new website has been created to offer advice and ideas to businesses considering working more closely with their local schools. It is at http://yourbusinesstheirfuture.com/   The Oxfordshire Town Chambers Network secured funding from Awards for All ( www.awardsforall.org.uk) to carry out a project called ‘Promoting Enterprise Education.’

Our report concludes that there is a positive and strengthening partnership between business and education in the county, and that businesspeople are getting more and more involved in supporting schools, teachers and students to raise standards. It also finds that opportunities for business to get involved with schools are increasing.

OTCN Director and report co-author Karyn Buck says: “Our ambition for this report is that both business and schools will see which education-business links are working well in Oxfordshire; that those already involved will consider taking on more projects and that schools and business groups that are not yet working together will find ways to do so.”

OTCN Director, John Naish, says the report also has a message for funding organisations: “Many of the people involved here are volunteers; the majority of town chambers and business groups are volunteer-led. Some of the projects we feature have been made possible because those involved have sought out funding. It would be great if organisations that have funding for this kind of work in Oxfordshire could look at what is being done and consider ways they might be proactive in supporting projects that exist or help spread good practice.”
