Where do you draw the line?

In the course of OTCN's work in Oxfordshire we've sometimes found ourselves in discussions about the lines that mark local authority administrative boundaries. Why? Because on some issues it can make a significant difference. You can find yourself linked by council to a town with which you feel less in common than a much closer town, which happens to fall outside the boundary. You can look across a local authority boundary and find that a neighbouring town has a regime, for example on funding or parking or promotion, that you'd prefer.

It is clear that the county boundary has the potential to be an issue in the same way.

So on this page OTCN has drawn Oxfordshire in a wider context. It is easy to see from this that some of our towns have nearer neighbours outside the county than inside.

As time allows OTCN is exploring the potential to foster links between towns on the edge of our county to see if businesses there feel that closer links to our Network would be of value.

If you have a view on this issue, please let us know.
